What are you reading Wednesday is a clever way to show-off what you’re reading and help entice people to add it to their TBR. The post is really straightforward:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • Go to page 34 (or 34% if your e-book doesn’t have page numbers) and share a line or passage from that section (as always avoid spoilers)
  • Would you like to live in the world in which your book takes place? Why or why not?

What Am I Reading?

The Ninth Circle

Title: The Ninth Circle

Author: C. A. Harland

Furfur’s hand shot out, and a tongue of flame launched from his fingertips. The fire whip slashed through the air. It struck Jack across the face, opening and instantly cauterizing a wide gash. Jack cried out, then tried to stifle the call, turning it into a muffled whimper.

Setting Commentary:

The Ninth Circle is set in contemporary Ireland. Essentially everything is the same, except, the global criminal underground is controlled by demons. Dante’s Inferno meets Clare’s Shadowhunter’s book series meets Supernatural, The Ninths Circle features a clandestine branch of Interpol, called the Nighthunters, do battle with the demonic criminals and send them back to hell. Sounds pretty cool, but also super dangerous. I can’t say that I would want a life of demon-hunting, but Tala and Aiva (the main characters of the series) make it look good. And there’s always something admirable about risking your own life to protect others.
